Criticism of Trump's Comments on Arnold Palmer
Daughter of golf icon Arnold Palmer Peg Palmer Wears addresses recent comments from former President Donald Trump about her late father as "unacceptable" and "disrespectful." She said that instead of talking about her dad on his campaign trail, President Trump should focus on giving more substantive content about policy during his events.
Donald Trump made some remarks the other day about her late dad at Arnold Palmer Airport.
Some of his remarks during that include those he made at a campaign rally in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, at Arnold Palmer Regional Airport. Wears declares herself particularly offended because the airport has personal meaning for her father, who frequently traveled there for work. She stresses that the audience should be delivered more solid matters to ponder about, such as Trump's policies, rather than frivolous stories intended to trivialize profound issues.
Trump's Locker Room Anecdote Raises Concerns
Trump started the storm by informing the media how other golfers reacted to Arnold Palmer coming out from the locker room. The golfers called him "all man." Trump's effusive praises for Palmer in regard to his fighting qualities left everybody wondering whether such remarks were appropriate.
Wears replied, who accused Trump of using her father's image to "bolster his own image, asked him to focus on policy issues rather than personal stories.
Call for Substance in Campaign Rallies
Wears further went on to express frustration at how there was not much substantial discussion at Trump's rally. She said, "They deserve something in there about what he would do as a candidate, but he won't do that." She pointed out the need for clear political issues addressed and not shift attention by telling her father's stories.
Political Leaders React to the Comments of Trump
The controversy took on even more traction when CNN's Jake Tapper asked Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) about Trump's remark about Palmer's genitalia. Johnson dodged: "I think the president's lengthy speeches prove endurance, a comparison meant to differentiate Trump from President Joe Biden.".
