Flight Cancellations at Asheville Regional Airport Amid Widespread Service Outages

Travelers Should Call Airlines for Most Current Information

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — Asheville Regional Airport halted all flights Saturday afternoon and by Sunday morning, all of Delta's flights before noon on September 29 were canceled.

Partly due to widespread internet and cellular outages affecting the region, the airport cannot immediately report on updates either, authorities said.

"We'll do our best to update you on Facebook as often as we can, but bear with us here as services are still pretty unreliable," it said.

With officials expecting more delays and cancellations in the next two days, it would be wise for passengers to maintain communication with their airlines before heading to the airport regarding any possible updates of flight statuses.

While the airport was kept open to ensure take-offs and landings, various technical issues experienced by the airlines did not let the flights run as scheduled. "Many flights were cancelled today, and more cancellations are likely tomorrow. Please contact your airline for the latest flight status before coming to the airport. Due to local internet issues, our website is not being updated regularly," added the statement.
