Spurs Forward Dominic Solanke Included in England Squad

Tottenham forward Dominic Solanke has been called up by interim head coach Lee Carsley for England's matches in the UEFA Nations League with Greece and Finland. First up will be Greece at Wembley Stadium on October 10, followed by the trip to Finland on October 13. These will be Carsley's third and fourth games as caretaker.

Solanke, who moved to Tottenham from Liverpool for £65 million ($83 million) this summer, has netted three goals already in just five games this season after recovering from an ankle injury. He took the form from a great season at Bournemouth for the Premier League, where he managed 19 goals in 38 matches played.

"Dom's a player that I'm fully aware of, having worked with him in the past," Carsley said in a press conference. "He was really close to being in the last squad, but unfortunately, he got injured just before selection. He's a player that's done exceptionally well at Bournemouth and now continues that form at Spurs. He's got a lot of great attributes, and I'm pleased to have him in the squad."

Solanke has one England cap, which came in a friendly match against Brazil in 2017, where he came off the bench.

Other Major Options for England

  • Levi Colwill (Chelsea) is included in the squad.
  • Morgan Rogers (Aston Villa) misses out, although a superb start to the season.

Phil Foden (Manchester City), Jude Bellingham (Real Madrid), and Cole Palmer return from missing the last two games.

Carsley has taken over as acting head coach after Gareth Southgate's resignation following a loss to France in the Euro 2024 final. He declined to comment on whether he would assume the position full-time, saying, "It is obvious what my position is at present and I am concentrating on that."

France Omit Kylian Mbappé for Nations League Matches

Kylian Mbappé Absent Due to Injury

Excluded from Didier Deschamps' France squad for the two UEFA Nations League matches against Israel and Belgium is Kylian Mbappé, who is recovering from a thigh injury that he sustained while playing for Real Madrid on September 24, when the team beat Alavés 3-2. He did feature in Madrid's shocking 1-0 loss to Lille in the Champions League, though, and Deschamps granted more rest time for his player.

I spoke to Kylian about this, and we both decided he needed more time to recover," said Deschamps in the press conference. "That's not the worst injury, but it needs such treatment. I don't want to risk anything."

France Fixtures

  • October 11: France vs. Israel in Budapest.
  • October 14: France vs. Belgium in Brussels.

The setback is being brought about by recent international retirements by the likes of Antoine Griezmann. Deschamps brought Christopher Nkunku and Bradley Barcola for the gap in the French team.

Endrick Talked on How to Cope with Criticism

It's about Real Madrid's latest signing, Endrick.

Endrick on Dealing with Expectation at Real Madrid.

Real Madrid newcomer Endrick made headlines when he became the youngest player to play a full game for the team in a Champions League fixture, aged 18 years and 73 days. "I do not allow others to criticize me much," he said after being left crying in defeat at Lille 1-0.

"To be sincere, I do not care what people say," Endrick said. "A day in football is when people will celebrate you for scoring a goal and the next day, criticize you for a loss. I focus on the advice of my coach and teammates. That's all that matters to me."

The coach of Madrid, Carlos Ancelotti, said after the game, praising: "He did well. He had a clear opportunity and didn't score, but he's young and very talented."

Mohamed Salah is accused of hitting Roma players.

Salah to the Rescue for Liverpool in the Champions League

Mohamed Salah Scores to Help Win Over Bologna

The Reds convincingly won over the Italians 2-0 in their second Champions League game. Mohamed Salah was playing a key role for his team Liverpool, as he managed to set up one goal and score his 49th Champions League goal that ended with the win for Liverpool and its perfect record in that competition.

Salah's cross created Alexis Mac Allister's opener in the 11th minute and his goal in the 75th minute to seal the win. The Egyptian forward now has the potential to join the ranks of the top scorers of the Champions League.

He's a player who makes a difference in key moments. Even when it seems like he's not involved, he can suddenly produce something spectacular, like that goal tonight," said Liverpool manager Arne Slot at the field.

The six-time Champions League winners will play RB Leipzig on 23 October.

whereas Bologna will play against Aston Villa on 22 October.
