The family of Virginia Giuffre, who accused Jeffrey Epstein of sexually abusing her as a teenager, made a pointed statement on Wednesday evening following recent comments from President Donald Trump. Trump said in his comments that Epstein had "stolen" Giuffre from work at Mar-a-Lago, Trump's private club in Florida.

In response to reporters on Air Force One, Trump affirmed that Giuffre was working as a spa attendant for Mar-a-Lago when she was recruited by Epstein. According to her, Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein's longtime associate, approached her at the club and brought her into Epstein's orbit by promising her a job as a masseuse.

Giuffre took her own life in April. Her family reacted with shock to Trump's comment, saying it seems to suggest he must have been aware of some extent of Epstein and Maxwell's criminal activity.

Hearing President Trump mention our sister and admit that he knew Virginia had been "stolen" from Mar-a-Lago was startling, the family said. We question whether he was aware of Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell's illegal activities, particularly in light of his subsequent statement that his close friend Jeffrey "likes women on the younger side… no doubt about it." Survivors are entitled to answers.

The announcement was made a few days after Ghislaine Maxwell and her lawyer allegedly met with Todd Blanche, the Deputy Attorney General and former Trump defense lawyer. Both the public and survivors have expressed disapproval and concerns about the meeting. The meeting was strongly opposed by Giuffre's family, who claimed that Maxwell should not be trusted due to his demonstrated history of dishonesty.

The statement went on, "If our sister could speak today, she would be most incensed that the government is focusing on a known perjurer." "Ghislaine Maxwell has lied under oath and will do so for as long as it benefits her.

Trump's latest comments also build on his previous statement that Epstein was excluded from Mar-a-Lago after he "swiped" staff. White House aides previously said Epstein was excluded for "being a creep."

Ghislaine Maxwell is already serving a 20-year jail term for helping recruit and prepare underage girls for Epstein. Epstein took his own life in prison in 2019 while facing federal charges of sex trafficking.
