The main difference between cytology and histology is that cytology is that the study of chemistry, structure, and performance of animal and plant cells, whereas histology is that the study of chemical composition, microscopic structure, and performance of tissue and tissue systems. Furthermore, cytology may be a narrow study area, while histology may be a wide study area.
