While Florida is still reeling with the effects of Hurricane Helene, the people living on its west coast have to look forward to the storm that could prove disastrous, Hurricane Milton. The hurricane is said to touch down Florida soon and this has led the governments of the city to inform its citizens of the possibility of evacuation.

The Destruction of Treasure Island Ends

Treasure Island, Florida, is directly in the hurricane's track. Just days ago, the residents were already feeling the effects of Hurricane Helene; thus, the powers and surges of Hurricane Milton are waiting for them once again. Chuck Fuller, one of the people there, expressed his anxiety to reporters in an interview as he pushes for the evacuation of the residents immediately.

"We have never seen a storm of this magnitude," said Fuller, who added that it may even be a "once-in-a-century event." In his call for people to "get out" and be secure, he warned that the danger of flooding and storm surge is high.

Dangers of Complacency in Successive Storms

Complacency is dangerous, according to Fuller, who said that, previously, storms had not yet brought severe damage and some are not yet taking future hurricanes seriously. He encouraged people, whether staying in barrier islands or not, to evacuate as soon as the authorities were decided to do so; as he explained, the ravages left by Helene have already flooded and damaged several places.

"I have a message to those still in the barrier islands," Fuller said. "We became too complacent because there was no great damage in previous storms, but we cannot risk it now with Milton."

Urgent preparations are under way

Residents are last-ditching measures to fortify their homes and establishments by putting up boards on windows and using sandbags as barricades. It's like Fuller said, though: "Most of them are also praying hard, knowing that Hurricane Helene left them vulnerable.".

Hurricane Milton moved inland and, before that, reached a Category 5 power level, which downgraded it to a Category 4 storm. It should reach land late Wednesday. All persons in the projected path are advised by authorities to evacuate and go inland.
